I learned how to work with glass in 2015, a few years after my mom took a stained glass class on a whim. She laid out the basics to me and it quickly became the medium I’ve connected with the most. Seems to run in the family, as my mom became a full time glass artist first (hi, Best in Glass Studio!).
I’m self taught through trial and error (lots of error) and love the challenge that comes with working with a material that can really have a mind of its own.
My work is heavily inspired by American traditional tattooing and the southwest. The bold black outlines of these images are a natural fit for the solder lines traditional to stained glass. Over the years I’ve learned to mix kiln fired elements with the Tiffany stained glass technique, as well as make functional pieces that are fully fused in the kiln. Discovering fresh ways to work with a rigid material like glass is an incredibly fun process and I’m constantly learning something new.
